RabbitStats is Now Free!

We are pleased to announce that basic RabbitStats accounts are now free!

A basic account is like a premium account, but with two major changes – you are limited to three collectors, and there are ads on the website and in the nightly email reports. A list of the different accounts we offer is available on our website.

It has been a little over a year since we launched the RabbitStats service. During that time we have learned a whole lot and listened to feedback from you, our customers. It is our goal to allow anyone to have access to quality information on their Second Life virtual world property, and we hope this new pricing structure helps to meet that goal. It’s been a crazy year!

A big thank you to our testers while working on this. We couldn’t have done it without you!

New Beta Feature: CSV Exports

A new feature has been added to RabbitStats that allows you export data from a collector to a CSV file. We’ve tested opening the CSV files in both Microsoft Excel and Google Documents with great success, so we’re tagging this feature “beta” and making it available to everyone.

At the moment it only generates a report for the three days leading up to when the report was run. Once this feature goes final we’ll add more flexibility to the times that reports are able to be generated for.

We’ll let your feedback guide us in what reports you want to have, so if you have a suggestion for a report, please let us know!

Enjoy!

Terms of Service Updated

Our Terms of Service has been updated slightly. A change is coming in the RabbitStats service soon which will allow accounts of different levels to be created (each with access to different features), and the ToS has been updated to reflect this.

You’ll need to accept the ToS the first time you log in. (Any time the ToS updates this will be the procedure from now on!)

Thank you for being a RabbitStats user! Yay for our users! :)

[UPDATED] Unplanned Downtime on March 5th, 2008

[UPDATE] Our ISP has canceled the power outage. We will be rebooting our server to update some software, but the downtime will only last a few minutes.

Thank you!

Our Internet Service Provider has notified us that they will be performing unplanned mandatory emergency maintenance on the power that services the facility our server is in this evening around 9:00PM PST (Second Life time) tonight, March 5th, 2008.

To avoid any data loss, we will power down our server at 8:30PM PST. Our ISP will automatically power the server back up when the power outage is complete.

If the outage lasts longer than our ISP is predicting your collectors will notify you that they are able to uncommunicate with the server. There is no need for you to take any action on your part – your collectors will automatically recover once the server has returned.

We apologize for the inconvenience.

Collector Version 2008-03-04-01 Posted

A new version of the collector script has been posted. After the most recent server update, and issue has arisen with collectors whose scanning radius covers <0,0,0>. (For more information, please look at SVC-1746 in the Second Life JIRA!)

Collector version 2008-03-04-01 checks to ensure that all avatars detected are within the scanning radius before adding them to the seen avatar list. This is a minor change, and if your collectors do not scan <0,0,0> in a sim, there is no need to upgrade.

You can pick up a new version of the collector script at our in-world storefront, or IM me in-world (Bunny Halberd) and I’ll be happy to pass you a copy.

As always, we appreciate all of our customers and thank you!

New Features: Avatar Names & Nightly Reports

We are pleased to introduce two new features today – the ability to see the avatar names of your visitors, and the ability to get nightly reports emailed to you!

Your collectors must be upgraded to version 2007-12-29-01 (or later) to use this feature. You can pick up the latest version of the collector at our in-world storefront.

There are a few things you should know about these features:

  • Two new roles have been created in the user account tool:
    • Able to view names of AVs that have visited
    • Able to receive the nightly report emails
  • Your user account must have a verified email address to receive the nightly reports.

The first new role, “Able to view names of AVs that have visited,” turns on the ability to see a listing of the AV names that have been logged from the website. You will see extra items in the dashboard and in the collector charts if your account is in this role. The AV names are posted on five minute intervals.

The second new role, “Able to receive the nightly report emails,” tells the system to send you a nightly report (generated at midnight PST) with information about your collectors, including:

  • Location of the collector
  • Average time dilation & frames per second that day
  • Total number of unique visitors
  • Average time spent per visitor
  • Total time spent by all visitors
  • A listing of all of the AV names seen that day and how long each was there

All of your collectors will appear on one report. If your account is in this role and you’d rather not receive the nightly reports, you can disable it in the preferences menu.

Again, please remember that you have to have a verified email address on file to receive reports. If you never verified your address, you can click the mailbox icon in the user account tool to resend a message that allows you to verify your account.

What else would you like to appear in the nightly report? This feature is still under heavy development and we’d really like feedback!

We have been beta testing this for a while, and it’s pretty cool. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do!
